We are a family of five, living in New Zealand, beginning our home schooling journey. We thought that starting a blog would be a great way to keep a visual record of our projects, our experiences and what we’re learning along the way.
A bit about us:
Ivy (9) is our eldest, and the reason that we started home schooling in the first place. I have always liked the idea of it, but never believed I could make the leap. Her massive struggles in regular schooling prompted us to make the switch, and it was the best decision we could have made for her – she’s gone from being depressed, anxious and explosive to being a much happier, more settled girl. She has ADHD, and some other issues which can make learning hard for her, though when she is interested, she is a quick learner. She adores computer games and has a keen interest in movies – not just the watching of them, but also in making of them as well. She’s just started tap dancing class, and is a Brownie.
Lauren (5) is our middle child, and so far as we know, suffers from none of the struggles that Ivy does – which is a blessing both for her, and us! She loves to learn though is very independent and determined. She likes to do things her own way, and in her own time, and thankfully she has the freedom to do that in our home school environment. Some of her favourite things to do are dress up and role play characters from movies she loves (Elsa from Frozen is her top pick), baking, and helping out around the house. She’s my mini-me, and loves to help make life easier. She does ballet, and is a Pippin.
Natalie (4) is our youngest, and while she’s not school age yet, she loves to join in with just about any activity on offer. She too is very determined, and there is no point even trying to suggest she ‘can’t’ do something, because she will just go and prove you wrong 😉 She currently loves dinosaurs, pretending the be Anna from Frozen, dressing up, and ballet.
