Going Under

This term we’ve resumed our weekly trips to the pool. We took term one off mostly because we were trying to get Ivy’s meds sorted and now that that is mostly under control, we’re getting back into the swing of things. It’s always nice to hit the pools mid-week when we don’t have the hustle and bustle of the weekend.

Today I was really excited because Lauren decided to give her goggles another go, and while she didn’t like the way they felt initially, after she’d experienced the fact that water couldn’t get into her eyes anymore she forgot any discomfort and experimented with this new tool.

So awesome!

It’s been a real struggle getting her to go under water, but she was really resistant to goggles too. I’m so pleased she decided to give them another go as it opens up a whole lot of new games we can play, and means that she’ll actually be able to learn to swim now. I think Ivy really loved it too, they played ring-a-ring-a-rosie in the pool, and then Ivy showed her how to do dolphin dives, and then the last game we all played together was singing under the water. We took turns to go under and hum tunes, and the others had to guess what the song was. So much fun 🙂

Now I just need to get some goggles that Natalie will use, and maybe she’ll be happy to go under the water as well!
